Privacy notice
How we use your information.
[Draft for legal review — company registration details, registered office and data-protection contact to be confirmed.]
Who we are
Surf Side is a working name for a project being developed by Surf Collective Ltd (the “controller”). Contact: [to be confirmed].
What we collect
- Founding member interest: first and last name, email, postcode, who membership would be for, activity interests, whether you’d like marketing emails, the date you registered and how you found us (for example a QR code at an event).
- Updates list: your email and, optionally, your name, postcode and how you describe yourself.
- Enquiries: the details you include in your message.
- Investor access requests: name, email, organisation and any information you provide.
Why, and our lawful basis
- To record and manage your registration of interest and contact you about membership — legitimate interests and steps you’ve asked us to take.
- To send marketing emails — consent, which you can withdraw at any time.
- To understand local demand — we use aggregated information (for example counts by postcode district such as “BN3”). Reports shared with investors or partners never include your name, email or full postcode.
How long we keep it
Until membership launches and for a reasonable period afterwards, or until you ask us to delete it. [Retention period to be confirmed.]
Who can see it
Only authorised Surf Side administrators, using role-based access. Our hosting and email providers process data on our behalf under contract. We don’t sell your data.
Your rights
You can ask to access, correct or delete your information, object to processing, or withdraw consent. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office (ico.org.uk).
Registering is not a purchase
Registering your interest does not commit you to purchasing a membership and does not guarantee a membership place.
